Natural Resources Section Meeting

On Tuesday, November 16, 2010, the Natural Resources Section (NRS) will hold its monthly brown bag lunch meeting from noon to 1pm at the HSBA conference room (located on the 10th floor of Alakea Corporate Tower, 1100 Alakea Street).

NRS will host guest speaker Thomas S. Witten, President of PBR Hawaii & Associates, Inc., who will present: “An Overview of Important Ag. Land.”

As President and Principal at PBR HAWAII, Mr. Witten oversees the successful completion of community and environmental planning projects. Involved in a diverse range of landscape architectural and regional land planning projects from the preparation of strategic land management and community development plans to residential estate landscape design, Mr. Witten has developed successful approaches and strategies for the management of land resources for various clients.

A life-long resident of Hawaii with 30 years experience in land planning and landscape architecture, Mr. Witten is intimately familiar with the planning and design issues affecting the future of the islands social, physical and environmental structure. With his educational background and professional experience, he offers a creative and sensitive approach to the full range of current design, community planning, and resource management issues.

Mr. Witten has been involved with the preparation of regional community plans, land management programs and site specific development plans with the related land use and permitting for various properties on Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Hawaii and Kauai.

On Kauai, Mr. Witten is currently involved with several major land owners in the planning of their lands, including Grove Farm, Knudsen Trust, and A&B Properties, Inc.

Familiar with all levels of Federal, State, and County regulatory processing and permit procedures and requirements related to land use planning and entitlements, Mr. Witten has served as an expert witness on land use and environmental planning issues for projects throughout the State of Hawaii.
